Little Miss Sienna has been on a roll learning new words lately,
we are at almost 30 words!

I wanted to catch some on video because 1. some people don't even believe us that at 12 months old she can say this many and 2. because this blogs purpose was originally meant to be a diary of her everyday happenings and it will be printed for her as a keepsake sooo I'll bore you with a list of her words too :)

Unexplainable toddlers

Toddlers are confusing, they are free-willed little boogers who are simultaneously ridiculously adorable and ridiculously challenging. I swear God made them this way, with a balance of annoying and awesome so that they can keep you on your toes just long enough before you break but then melt you into a pile of mush with their sweet little kisses and unexpected hugs.

Sienna is not a brat per say, but sometimes her independence makes her seem that way. She'll try to put on her shoes and if I try to help she gets mad, pushes me away and throws the shoe. I try not to laugh but dang sometimes her wanting to be self sufficient already cracks me up.

Sometimes she'll go to bed without any fuss what.so.ever and sometimes she has the most epic bedtime meltdowns you'd think world war III just started here

Sometimes she'll sleep 8 hours straight and other times shes up screaming after just being down for 30 minutes

Sometimes she'll eat amazingly well, healthy & balanced making mama proud scarfing down brocoli and other days, most days...she wants nothing to do with normal food and would prefer nothing but puffs or a bowl of blueberries. Is it her teeth? is she being stubborn? OH that's right.

 she's a TODDLER.

Some trips to Target are a breeze, she blissfully sits in the cart saying "hiiiiii" to everyone who passes by and then out of nowhere the fidgety get-me-outta-heres begin and the judgmental eyes of strangers are on you. I'm learning that toddlerhood comes with a lot of those eyes and I'm remembering that at once those eyes were once mine before I knew how it could be and would be. How my perfect sweet angel would start exercising her freedom and will

Oh my toddler girl

I don't think I'll ever let this girl out of the house
when shes a teenager.

Sienna's Party: details & dilemas

\
A couple of days before the party I had a meltdown, the weather showed rain & cool temp. 50 people, 9 tollders in my house? wasnt happening..then it went to sunny, then back to rain. I was loosing my mind checking it every 5 mins. Siennas outfit wasnt made for 50 degrees and I had bough a specific dress for the occasion and I wasnt able to wear. Then Jesse, my music guy wasnt able to get off work...now I know these things arent the end of the world but they were to me. I guess once you set expecations its a huge bummer if something you really wanted doesnt pan out...but wait, there is more.

Sienna's nose seemed like it was runny, GREAT?! getting sick for the first time ever a day before her party? all I needed. Luckily, it only lasted a couple of hours then completely went away...but seriously? all that was enough to make me wanna call it quits on this whole thing. I was telling Danny that maybe we should expect an earthquake to at this rate. Thankfully everything fell into place...sun came out..there was no rain and everyone had a great time.

I have a little concerned thinking Sienna would be super freaked out and overwhelmed by everyone but she did great- wasnt shy at all...danced, ran around with her baby friends and had fun and that was enough to make it all worth it.

I have to say, I'm glad we had a photographer at the party because I hardly had time to breathe and there is no way I could have gotten a bunch of good pictures of this fablous day. She sure captured some sweet moments for Sienna to have to look back on one day :)

I tasted it

I was finally brave enough

If you remember THIS gem of a post...
you know that my Mother & Brother -in-law tasted my breastmilk before I did their reaction was absolutely PRICELESS and I'm still laughing about it to this day.

"you could bottle this up and sell it!
never gets old.

See, its not that I'm grossed out by my own milk,
I just have an irrational aversion to warm milk..but today, we are on the last baggie of my frozen milk stash and I thought it was my last chance to try...for a while atleast. So I did.

And - since it was in the process of deforsting, I was able to have it semi- iced
PERFECT for my weird warm milk phobia HA

Thoughts? 'Sweet nectar' ineed.

last bottle of breast milk,
so glad I had enough to last her over a year!

Sienna's Party Details: Part 3

Remeber how I said I had several FAVORITE parts of Siennas party?
well here is another

I love 50's music and orignially was going to make a playlist of my favorites for her party...as her theme was a 'vintage twist on You Are My Sunshine' but then we accidentally stumbled on a better idea :) LIVE MUSIC!

Every Saturday morning, we go to the local Farmers Martket where we Jesse plays. We couldnt stop saying how good he was, so in between one of his songs Danny went up to him and asked if he would be willing to come play at Sienna's party. After pulling some strings, he was able to make it!

He even learned to play one of my favorite 50s songs for Sienna "My Girl"
and I got to dance with my girl :) it was one of those little blissful moments that I sure will keep in my heart forever

I think little S has a crush on him :)
she was dancing and giving him little smirks
little flirt!

To entertain the 9 toddlers we got a bouncy pall pitt,
but seems like they loved dancing to Jesse more!

No one can prepare you

The biggest lesson I learned in my ONE year of mommyhood is being flexible, and no not yoga type of flexible.

Because motherhood sometimes is a cold hearted, well you know
and she will throw you a curve ball after a curve ball.
And just when you feel like breaking she will throw you another.

If you're not flexible you're screwed
I say screwed, but I really mean something else
It starts with an "F"

Before Sienna was born, I had these grand plans of making baby food...breastfeeding like its a piece of cake...co sleeping? yeah right NEVER in my house. Eating everything organic...blah blah blah

I think back at these "fantasies" I had and laugh

Truth is no one can ever prepare you for motherhood. It's not possible
Because every ones experience is different
Every child is different
There are books, and mom friends,
but in the end, it's just you and your child

My mother in law gave us such a hard time about co-sleeping and not letting her cry it out "you just gotta do it even if she cries for 5 hours" she would say. Bless your heart woman, but mine isn't strong enough to handle my baby scream for more than 10 minutes.  Do I want to co-sleep? no way, I much rather her sleep in her crib but if its the only way anyone in our house gets any sleep then that's how its gonna be.

Little miss S sure gives us a run for our money that's for sure. When I look back at my early days as a mom, I'm surprised I'm even standing here today. Those early days were dark. Finding your groove in mothering isnt always easy. But little by little....poop-slosion by poop-splosion...laundry pile by laundry pile I found my way. Even with the daily disasters that come and go, you have to learn to roll with the punches and even if you swore you'd never  do something...co-sleep, give formula or whatever else vision you had....be prepared to take things as they come and accept them, even if they dont turn out as you orignally planned.

Sienna's Party Details: Part 2

I have so many favorite parts from her party,
one of them being the silly photo prop station. I'm in love with the results. Since Sienna wont remember this day, I bet she will one day get a kick out of these photos.

Here are some of my favorites

My TODDLER

Here is a little bit about my ONE year old this month
stats, details and of course pictures!

She is a full time walker, no more crawling.
In fact shes trying to master running now giving mama a heart attack every time.

I wished for her to walk by her 1st Birthday, and she delivered a month early :)

At her 1 year well visit yesterday we were told that shes advanced with her speech (proud mama over here) she says lots of words and even 2 word sentences like "hi Charlie" "thank you" "nie ma" (no more in polish)

One of my favorite things she learned was to ask to eat when shes hungry because she actually eats everything then. This morning when we woke up we went right to playtime, at one point she dropped her toys...came to me and said "niam niam" asking to eat. Then proceeded to eat a bigger breakfast than me :)

At the grocery store she points to strawberries and excitedly says "niam niam" and tries to get them out of the package....her favorite food!

Height: 30.5" (90th percentile)
Weight: 17lbs 1oz (10th percentile)
shoes size: 3

super model in the model in the making?

has 5 chompers that we started brushing already,
always been fascinated with toothbrushes so shes loving this.
